Very impressed (by rjfwalker) |
Went to a screening yesterday and I was mightily impressed, Incredible 3D, it had a very good storyline that appeals to both young and old. Great voice casting that includes Katy Perry who even sang I kissed a smurf and I liked it!, funny jokes, good references to the old series. I wasn't expecting much , but a lot of time and effort has gone into the detail on this film, i guess that is why it took so long to get to the cinema. New York is a perfect location, Gargamel Hank Azaria plays his part beautifully , Azrael is a fantastic mixture of real life and comedy animation.. ..sure it <more> |
Perfect Family Fun!!! (by Pumpkin_Man) |
This movie is for the kid in all of us. It's funny, cute, silly, awesome, and Smurftastic! I've never watched the classic cartoon series, so I couldn't compare it. During the Blue Moon Festival, an evil but wacky wizard named Gargamel chases Papa, Clumsy, Brainy, Grouchy, Gutsy, and Smurfette into a vortex and transports them to New York City. It's a classic fish-out-of-water story They seek refuge with Patrick and Grace Winslow, a couple who are expecting a baby. The Smurfs drive Patrick crazy and almost cost him his job. They try to bring the vortex back before Gargamel <more> |
Not a Hater (by rhohmann123) |
It's the SMURFS!! obviously not a movie looking for Oscar nominations. Come on haters, why would you go see a movie you know you are going to hate just to complain about it?? Its just meant to be a fun movie about little blue smurfs, who could hate that. I do not know what the haters were thinking they were going to see when they went, but it was Exactly what I thought it was going to be. A fun light hearted movie about Smurfs. I was not there to pick it apart, I was there to relax and enjoy. If you go in knowing you are going to hate it then why go? If you were going to the Smurfs for a <more> |
Adorable, Funny and Nostalgic (by carlypi) |
I don't have any children of my own, but I am a big child myself. Born in the 80s and having grown up watching The Smurfs cartoon on television I was really looking forward to seeing The Smurfs on the big screen and for me it didn't disappoint. This movie has got so many awful reviews but let's be honest, it was never going to win an Oscar but it can win the hearts of people who want to enjoy a lighthearted movie with silly giggles along the way.The Smurfs stayed true to their cute and happy selves throughout, and the voices of the characters were extremely well suited, especially <more> |
Very cute (by melimelo-3) |
granted, there was some scatology in there but kids are always fond of that... The two kids I took both 8 both got enthralled in the film, laughed and cheered on. One actually started to cry when the Smurfs were endangered. Also maybe this happened to be a particularly captive audience but we heard claps at the end of the film!Sure, it has a classic storyline with escaping the villain and being caught by the villain but defeating him and having goodness prevail... but most stories do! especially in children's films Honestly, I was seeing this film with low expectations but was <more> |
So Funny!!!!! (by thosefries) |
Just got back from seeing "The Smurfs" with one of my friends, my little sister, my mom and my friend's mom. My friend, thought it was okay, she only laughed at the part when all the Smurfs attacked Gargamel. My sister laughed contagiously throughout the movie, like when Gargamel peed in the bucket at the restaurant or when he got attacked. I, too, laughed throughout, at all the absolute funny parts. Even my mother and my friend's mother laughed throughout. There was also this little boy, sitting behind us that laughed so loudly, it was super funny. My father didn't go, <more> |
Much better than the reviews! (by craig-158) |
I just watched The Smurfs with my wife, my 10 year old son, and my 5 year old daughter and we all enjoyed the movie very much. I had promised to take my kids to see this after seeing the first preview several months ago and I was concerned with the poor ratings on IMDb and poor critic reviews. However, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good the film was. It had a good story line and was much funnier than I expected. The live characters were cast very well with Hank Azaria playing a perfect Gargamel and the smurf voices were good as well, especially Jonathan Winters as Papa <more> |
A cute, enjoyable throwback (by TBear6000) |
I don't know why this movie got such negative reviews. Obviously if you don't know what a smurf is or were not a fan of the original cartoon then this movie isn't going to be for you. But for a child of the 80's, like me, I found it delightful. It was a pleasant, nostalgic treat that while modernizing the smurfs a bit stayed true to the original theme and feel of the cartoon I remember. And, in a surprising twist, the film included humor throughout that was not limited to children alone but quite a few things thrown in to amuse the adults. In fact in the theater I was in the <more> |
Best movie of the year (by TheOtakuX) |
I was very excited about this movie, and it didn't disappoint. It felt just like an episode of the cartoon. Hank Azaria made a perfect Garagamel, and while the voices of the Smurfs were a little jarring at first being different from the cartoon , but quickly became unnoticeable. The CGI was perfect, it was easy to believe the Smurfs were real blue elves rather than special effects. Unfortunately, it didn't leave much room for a sequel, although if Garfield and Scooby-Doo both get sequels, and Alvin and the Chipmonks gets TWO, this certainly deserves at least one. *SPOILER* Maybe have <more> |
